Expanding Our Footprint in Tampa

Firmly anchored by one of the largest and most respected academic health institutions in the United States—Tampa General Hospital (TGH) and the University of South Florida (USF) Health Morsani College of Medicine—the Tampa Medical & Research District (TMRD) is a robust hub of premier clinical care, academics, research and biotechnology. In partnership with the Tampa Bay Economic Development Council (EDC), TGH and USF Health have established an inclusive and ever-growing medical ecosystem that attracts talent, sparks innovation and increases access to world-class health care in Tampa.

Additionally, the TMRD functions as a collaborative economic engine for the City of Tampa, stimulating new partnerships and enhancing prosperity through the creation of new jobs, flourishing industries, a strong sense of community and a better quality of life. Recruiting healthcare professionals and expanding life science operations is a continual effort thanks to tremendous growth in Tampa, which is widely regarded as one of the top cities for medical facilities in the nation. Home to more than 180 nationalities, our city reflects the real-world diversity of the general population, making it an ideal site for clinical trials that build trust, promote fairness and advance biomedical knowledge. Over time, the Tampa Medical & Research District is expected to ultimately generate more than $8.3 billion in annual economic impact to the state of Florida and support more than 57,900 jobs.
